Raymond happened to be standing right behind her and four months later they became engaged. Raymond Lukas and his soon-to-be bride, Lucille Kurio opened Lukas Bakery in November 1947. In the early stages of the business, they were the only two employees. In 1978, Raymond passed away, but his family has been operating the business ever since.

Sweet in all the right places. I ordered 6 kolaches -- all flavors except prune even though I am old. I prefer kolaches from Lukas Bakery because they let the filling act in the role of the sweet (or savory) and let the pastry be the delivery system. A+. Same goes for the savory pig in the blanket. A+ Delightful cream puffs follow suit.
