Nell'antichità funzionava da fortezza a guardia della piana lacustre di Ivrea e della strada che conduce in Valle d'Aosta.

Dopo aver appreso che, in concomitanza con la Sagra del cavolo verza, il Castello di Montalto Dora era aperto al pubblico con visite guidate, ieri siamo partiti dall'alta Val Susa per vedere finalmente il Castello, trovato sempre chiuso nelle ns visite precedenti. Dopo una bella passeggiata erta su ciottoli di quasi mezzora, purtroppo.
